Extra assignments due after Spring Break 4/4.
1. Create a soundtrack for your group novel. Your soundtrack should contain 10-12 songs that exemplify themes, motifs, or characters within the novel. Each song needs an explanation of its relevance. (75 points)
2. Movie trailer. Create a 30-60 second trailer of the movie version of your book. This can be created through Imovie, moviemaker, or even Powerpoint. You should have between 5-10 scenes (Imovie) or 10-15 still images (Powerpoint) to highlight the most dramatic, interesting, and significant moments of your books. Remember movie previews have the green preview screen, music, narrative, and a story within themselves. Remember trailers are not necessarily in the movie's chronological order. (200 points)

Group Novel Review Assignment
(Aim for depth, quality, and accurate reflection of class discussion and work)

As a group, create a study guide/review of group novel--this review should not just be a “Sparky Summary,” but should capture what your group actually discussed about the work. This assignment is worth 50 points (for each group member.) Please type this assignment and post to the class wiki. Please be detailed as this will be a study guide for you in April/May.

  1. Author, date, and pertinent background information
  2. Three main characters (and one-three sentence description of each using precise adjectives)
  3. Two minor characters (and one-three sentence description of each using precise adjectives)
  4. Two major settings (and one-three sentence description of each using precise adjectives)
  5. One paragraph plot outline—be sure to note breaks, shifts or transitions.
  6. Two symbols, references, or motifs:
  7. Two or three sentences on style and effect of style on the novel’s meaning:
  8. One or two sentences on dominant philosophy, themes, or ideas:

  10. 5-10 unanswered questions from our class discussions (ambiguity, irony, open questions)
